Our Community Foundation awarded a grant to Washington Community Schools for Washington Junior High School’s Hatchet Ratchex Robotics Program.

The grant will help purchase a laptop for students to program robots.
The Hatchet Ratchex is an afterschool program that was started at Washington Junior High last fall. Students create robots and then compete in various competitions with other schools all over the state. The program helps the students gain valuable skills in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.”

The Foundation supports the expansion of STEM education because many of Daviess County’s workforce needs can and will be met by those who have STEM skills.
