WHS Class of 1991 Celebrates Reunion by Giving Back to Future Generations

The Washington High School Class of 1991 recently celebrated their class reunion by doing more than reminiscing about the past. Classmates came together to invest in the future of Washington Community Schools through their newly established WHS Class of ’91 Hatchet Legacy Fund, held at Our Community Foundation.
During the reunion, classmates challenged one another to contribute to the fund, demonstrating their continued pride in their alma mater and their commitment to supporting future generations of Hatchets.
The WHS Class of ’91 Hatchet Legacy Fund is a designated endowment fund established to provide ongoing financial support for educational and enrichment programs throughout the Washington Community School System. Through the power of endowment, gifts to the fund will create a lasting source of support for students and educators for generations to come.
Adding to the excitement of the reunion, a generous class member offered a matching gift opportunity that resulted in a $500 contribution to the Washington Primary School Playground Project Fund, providing an immediate example of the difference classmates can make when they come together.
“When you gather for a reunion like this, it’s natural to look back and remember the teachers who influenced you, the friendships you formed, and the experiences that helped shape your life,” said Chris Jarrett, Executive Director of Our Community Foundation. “What makes this class especially meaningful is their commitment to looking forward. Inspired by the WHS Class of 1971 Legacy Fund, the Class of 1991 has embraced the opportunity to give back to the school and community that played such an important role in their lives.”
Jarrett added, “The beauty of an endowed fund is that its impact extends far beyond a single gift or reunion. Every contribution helps build a permanent resource that will continue supporting educational opportunities for years to come. Long after the Class of 1991 celebrates its future reunions, their generosity will still be making a difference for Washington students.”
Our Community Foundation welcomes other graduating classes, alumni, and community members interested in establishing a fund to support the causes and organizations that matter most to them. Through endowed giving, donors can create a lasting impact while honoring the people, places, and experiences that have shaped their lives.
