The Daviess County Family YMCA received a $750 Fast Grant to replace and add to the current group exercise equipment in response to the growing use of the facility for classes. Jessika Henning, the Y’s Aquatics Director and Group Exercise Coordinator, stated, “During 2023, 925 people of ages ranging from 13 to those in their 90’s participated in our group exercise classes. Our classes have experienced growth in the last 2 years, especially at the start of 2024, which made us realize the need to update and expand our equipment in the group exercise room.” The grant helped the Y purchase new cycling mats, hand weights for the Silver Sneakers and Tone Express classes, an additional rack for the hand weights, storage equipment, and a CD player to replace the non-functioning sound system.
