Our Community Foundation has announced the second-semester Teaching Innovator Grant recipients. A $250 grant was awarded to support Write and Shine: Early Literacy Exploration for Preschoolers in Kaelani Sandoval’s classroom. The Write and Shine Project introduced preschoolers to early literacy skills through interactive, hands-on learning with LCD writing boards. These boards gave younger learners a fun and engaging experience, helping them build essential fine motor skills and early writing confidence. These boards allow for endless practice without needing paper or pencils, sparking curiosity and creativity while laying a solid foundation for literacy. The Foundation conducted the competitive grant program during November and December, inviting Daviess County educators to apply for resources for the second semester of 2024-25 projects.
Our Community Foundation is proud to support innovative teaching methods in all area schools. We appreciate the generosity of our donors to our unrestricted funds, who made this grant possible.
