A $700 Fast Grant was awarded to Daviess County Partnership/Connections. The grant funds the restart of a community program designed to help families transition away from public assistance programs. The program was initially launched in October 2018 but was put on hold when the COVID-19 pandemic emerged. Sherry Davis, Executive Director of Connections, said “the program empowers participants to define their own goals and develop strategies to achieve them. Facilitators use the “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World” program to deliver personalized training. Davis also said her organization’s experience with the program demonstrates that it makes a difference. “Before the program was halted, 18 participants successfully completed the training, and only one of them has required further assistance since.”
